Winning Colt’s Breeding
The Derby winner St. Paddy is a SXm“«iSpS< »» EJ’SILj?? was given away by her breeder. This was Caerlissa, by Caerion. Caerlissa foaled St. Paddy * dam, Edie Kelly, in 1950. In nine races as a three-year-old the best Edie Kelly could do was to win a £lOO apprentice race over five furlongs in Ireland. She was bought by Sir Victor Sassoon at the dispersal of the late Hubert Hartlgan’s bloodstock. Her two previous foals are the selling handicapper Ben Beoch. which has not won beyond six furlongs, and a plating-class filly Fighting Edie, which has won over a mile and a quarter.
