N.Z., Yacht Safe

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, May 23. A New Zealand yacht drifting in heavy seas off Newcastle was last night taken in tow by the tug Cerberus. The Cerberus towed the yacht Tahi Waitangi to Newcastle. The Tahi Waitangi, which was crossing from New Zealand to Sydney, sent out a distress signal which was picked up by the Australian navigation authorities. The skipper is Mr London, of Church Point, Sydney, and three other Sydney men are on board. The tug owner said that the yacht had apparently run' out of fuel after riding out a southerly gale on Wednesday and also had rudder trouble when she left New Zealand four weeks ago. This had thwarted any attempt to sail her after the fuel shortage developed.
