WOMEN GRADUANDS ENTERTAINED
Posies Presented By Mayoress Posies of flowers were presented to woman graduands of Canterbury University by the Mayoress (Mrs G. Manning) at a buffet tea given in their honour by the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Federation of University Women yesterday evening. “Now that women are breaking down the barriers precluding them from entering professions, it is more necessary that they be well equipped for their professions,” said Mrs Manning. The more educated a woman was, the greater the contribution she could make to society, she said. The president of the Canterbury branch (Miss Nancy Northcroft) congratulated graduands, and spoke on the work of the Federation of University Women.
