D PUBLIC NOTICES PUBLIC NOTICE. LYTTELTON HARBOUR BOARD COLLECTION OF WHARFAGE DUES. NOTICE is hereby given that from and including Sunday, May 8, 1960, the collection of the Lyttelton Harbour Board's wharfage dues previously carried out by the N.Z. Railways Department, will be taken over by the Board. Collection of wharfage dues will be completed by the Railways Department on all cargo from or to all ships which have commenced discharge and/or loading up to and including Saturday, May 7, 1960. Particulars of the ships which will be initially affected will be published in this paper at a later date. Wharfage dues on cargo to or from ships entering the port from May 8, 1960, onwards, are required to be paid through the Board. Wharfage entry forms provided by the Board will require to be completed by importers and exporters or their agents for this cargo. Where importers and exporters do not have ledger accounts with the Board, wharfage charges will be payable on presentation of the documents. The following briefly sets out the procedure required for satisfaction of the Board's dues:—

INWARD COASTAL CARGO ON WHICH SEA FREIGHT IS PREPAID: Shipping companies’ delivery orders for this cargo will be available from the Board's office, 297 Madras street, Christchurch, where they can be uplifted on receipt of a wharfage entry. The delivery orders will be stamped by the Board and handed to the owner of goods or his agent. Presentation of the delivery orders with the board’s stamped endorsement is the Railway Department's authority to deliver the goods. INWARD COASTAL CARGO ON WHICH SEA FREIGHT IS PAYABLE AND INWARD OVERSEAS CARGO: Delivery orders for these cargoes will require to be uplifted from the respective shipping companies as at present and produced at the Board’s office, together with a wharfage entry. The delivery orders will then be stamped to allow delivery of the goods to be obtained from the Railways Department. OUTWARDS COASTAL AND OVERSEAS CARGO: Bill* of lading, together with wharfage entries for all outward cargo, are required to be presented to the Board by shippers of goods or their agents. The bills of lading will be stamped by the Board and this endorsement will be the Board's authority to the shipping companies to ship the goods, subject of course to Customs Department requirements in the case of outward overseas cargo. Supplies of both inward and outward wharfage entry forms, together with any additional information required, will be available at the Board’s Offices. Inquiries from importers and exporters or their agents who have any particular problems to discuss will be welcomed. A. L. BURK. Secretary-Manager. CHRISTCHURCH, April 2L IMO. 0457
