Immediate Action
The New Zealand Freezing Workers’ Association would now immediately open up negotiations with the employers, said the association’s national secretary (Mr S. Arnst) last evening. "I have been in contact with Mr F. P. Walsh, president of the Federation of Labour, and we will communicate with the employers immediately,” said Mr Arnst
In the original dispute, it was the employers’ wish to go to the Arbitration Court. We are almost back where we started now, so we have got to get together again, and try to achieve what other workers are enjoying —the incorporation of the 24 per cent general wage order in all rates of remuneration,” Mr Arnst said. “We hope that when we meet the employers, they will be desirous of incorporation,” he said.
