Table Tennis INTER-CLUB TEAMS
Increase In Fees
Fees to be paid for the entry of teams in the Canterbury Table Tennis Association's inter-club competitions this season will be £5 for teams in the A grade and A reserve grade, and £3 15s for teams in all other grades. This was decided at a special general meeting of the association. At the association's annual meeting earlier this month the fees were set at £5 for A grade, £4 for A reserve grade, and £3 for all other grades. Mr R. Nesbit (South Brighton) challenged the validity of attempting to change team entry fees at a special general meeting, and said mat under the association’s constitution the fees could be set only - by the annual meeting or by the executive. ihe chairman (Mr A. B. McCallum) ruled that a special meeting could be called to deal with any of the association's business and his ruling, although challenged by Mr Nesbitt, was upheld by the meeting. Increased rental for the use of the main playing hall, and the need to build up a reserve against possible losses in the staging of international matches, were cited by the treasurer (Mr D. D. M. Stewart) when he moved the motion for an increase in fees. The motion was seconded by Mr M. A. Cox, and was carried by 40 votes to 11.
