Rochdale For Second Leg
“The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, April 29.. The visiting horses, Gay Jinx from Awapuni, and Breve from Hawera, seem likely to dispute the finish in the £l2OO Foley Handicap at the Avondale Jockey Club's autumn meeting tomorrow. Both rounded off their training for the big event with solid work yesterday. Gay Jinx at Te Rapa and Breve at Ellerslie, where they are temporarily quartered, The Foley Handicap will be the first leg of the off-course double, run over a mile and three furlongs. The possibilities beside Gay Jinx and Breve include Yeman, Revolver, Uppercut, Messalina, Helenita, and Sunny Story. Already a warm favourite for the second leg. the Mount Eden Handicap, six furlongs, the Te Awamutu three-year-old gelding Rochdale has firmed in favour after a very fast five furlongs run in training yesterday A spell of fine weather has firmed the ground, which should be in excellent order.
