ANZAC DAY IN LONDON
Premiers Lay Wreaths (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, April 25. A small group of demonstrators against nuclear weapons picketed the Whitehall Cenotaph this morning as Australian and New Zealand Government and service chiefs laid wreaths at an Anzac Day service. The group of women, carrying placards, stood in the background and caused no interference. A crowd of about two thousand stood in a very light drizzle as the Australian and New Zealand Prime Ministers (Messrs Menzies and Nash) laid their wreaths on the flag-draped Cenotaph. Servicemen from Australia and New Zealand formed a guard of honour.
Youths Remanded.— The three youths who escaped from the Invercargill Borstal institution on Wednesday and gave themselves up at Clinton on Monday morning, were remanded until today when they appeared in the Invercargill Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The youths are William Robb, aged 16; Tuhura Tuhura, aged 19; and Owen Francis McCauley, aged 18.—(P.A.)
