The Rugby Tour

Sir, —The letters of G. V. Sumner and P. J. Alley well illustrate the shabby deterioration which has overtaken the antitour agitation. For whatever sound purpose there may be will surely be completely ruined by any kind of anti-British or anti- “ Boer” vemon. No good purpose whatever will accrue to either the Maoris or the African blacks by causing the old historical feud all over again between the two white races in South Africa. That would indeed be the worst of all disasters. And, as for anybody being ashamed of British names being put forward in Rugby, well that’s something quite beyond my tolerance as a Main Body veteran. —Yours, etc.,

R. M. THOMSON. April 23. 1960.
