SUPREME COURT RETIRED
Winner Of 16 Races "The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, April 26. The good sprinter, Supreme Court, had his last race when he finished unplaced in the Great Northern Challenge Stakes at Ellerslie last Saturday. He has now been retired to the property of his owner, Mr J. Sarten, at Ohinewai, said his trainer. H. H. Riley, this morning. An eight-year-old gelding, by Fair’s ,Fair from Belle Fox, Supreme Court began racing in the 1953-54 season with a third in a non-totalisator race at Pukekohe. In the meantime in New Zealand he has had 16 firsts, eight seconds and 13 thirds worth £12.675. He also raced in Australia, but without distinguishing himself.
At Ellerslie, in particular, Supreme Court excelled and his sprinting performances at meetings of the Auckland Racing Club were often brilliant. Two won him victories, in the Railway Handicap and the Great Northern Challenge Stakes, and another took him to the closest of seconds in the Easter Handicap.
