PIGEON’S DIVE ON TO SHIP
Injured Bird Becomes Pampered Passenger (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 26. The most pampered passenger aboard the liner Orsova which arrived at Auckland today was a pigeon, according to Chief Steward Picking. The bird did a “kamikaze-style” dive on to the ship when it had passed Sydney Heads, breaking a wing and injuring a foot. One foot bore a roll of microfilm with a message. pie pigeon was treated for its injuries by the si ip’s medical staff and during the voyage was nursed and fed by Mr Picking who bred pigeons as a boy. The pigeon was taken to the Auckland zoo, where it will be cared for and returned to the owner in Sydney it he wants it.
