Cup Matches

The date for the first of the Jones and Ruddiman Cup games will be June 18 at Christchurch. This was confirmed at the management committee meeting of the Canterbury Football Association last evening. The date for the return game at Dunedin will be decided after the Chatham Cup draw is announced Mr T. C. Gottermeyer reported for the match committee that the possible curtain-raiser to the touring Australian under 16 XI be Christchurch City and Technical Old Boys. The New Zealand Football Association have advised the local association that a sub-committee has been appointed to make preliminary inquiries into organising an art union.

The referees’ delegate, Mr J. Davidson, advised the committee that Mr J. Gourley had been appointed as referee for the Canterbury v. Australian under 16 schoolboy game, on May 14. Messrs J. Billcliff and F. Mullins have been appointed as linesmen.

Mr A. Frazer moved that a letter be sent to the under 18 Canterbury selector. Mr R. Storer, asking for his resignation. It was known to the committee that Mr Storer played in a competition on soccer match. The rules state that no selector shall play in a competition game while holding this appointment. Clubs will be asked for further nominations to fill the vacancy.
