CURRENT NOTES
Nursery Play Centre.—Mrs J. Chant will be acting-secretary of the Christchurch Nursery Play Centres’ Association until the next annual meeting. This was decided at a recently meeting of the association when Mrs G. T. Holmes resigned from office as secretary. She will be an active members of the association. St. Martin’s Townswomen.—Reports on the year’s work were given at the annual meeting of the St. Martin’s Townswomen’s Guild. Mrs Si Shellock, who presided, welcomed three new members and several visitors. Mrs C. Ironside, a member of the Dominion executive, congratulated the guild, making special mention of work done for others and guild interest in civic affairs. Arrangements were made to assist the aged appeal. Mrs Shellock thanked members for assistance given at the Town Hall fair. Officers elected were as follows: President, Mrs S. Shellock; secretary, Mrs R. Kent; treasurer, Mrs D. Bennett; committee, Mesdames S. Atkinson, E. Bromley, E. Couling, J. Clarke, M. Cadman, I. Hyphus, M. Harwood, A. Jensen, V. Rossiter; circle leaders, singing, Mrs D. Roberts, garden, Mrs J. Cowles, civic, Mrs A. Baker, arts and crafts, Mrs W. Spedding, drama, Mrs S. Shellock. A presentation was made to the retiring treasurer, Mrs J. Dawson, who did not seek reelection. Items were given by Mesdames E. Genn and H. Middleton. Competition winners for the year were Mesdames A. Jensen and J. Cowles.
Phillipstown Mothers’ Union.— Officers elected at the recent annual meeting of the Church of the Good Shepherd Phillipstown Mothers’ Union were:—Enrolling members. Mr L. Rickard; president, Mrs G. A. Green; secretary, Mrs C. Merrin: treasurer, Mrs H. Palmer; committee, Mesdames L. H. Ward. A. Stothers, T. Ewings, C. Yeatman, E. J. Robinson.
