T.E.A.L. Aircraft
Sir.—Lockheed Electras were, with New Zealand approval, purchased as an interim aircraft only. They were never intended to compete with jets as the Tasman service is a monopoly. New Zealand does not fly world routes and attempts to do so would be beyond the pocket of this country and the organisation of T.E.A.L. Advances in aviation are becoming too expensive for the economy of this country and overseas backing for our venture is important Crew training
for the jet age Is beyond our resources, to name one factor. As for purchase of Comets, this was never intended other than by a vociferous few without knowledge of aircraft/airline economics.—Yours, etc.,
