Appointee will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of Administration owned vehicles and mechanical plant under the direction of a Mechanical Overseer. Due to a shortage of housing, single applicants only will be appointed to the position of Leading Hand. Appointment for this position will be for three years in the first instance, and furlough to be taken in New Zealand at rate of one month a year is granted. An additional month's furlough is granted if reappointed. Return fares to Rarotonga will be met by the Administration, provided the appointee completes his term in the Territory. Local income tax ratei are lower than In New Zealand, and Social Security Tax does not apply. Assistance towards the cost of medical treatment is granted. The New Zealand Government Superannuation scheme operates.
