SHOOTING OF P.M.
Nkrumah Not Sympathetic (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, April 11. Ghana would not send a message of sympathy to the South African Prime Minister (Dr. Verwoerd), a Government spokesman said today. “People who use violence must expect to have violence used against them,” he said. Both the Portuguese and Indonesian Governments expressed sympathy today, but the Indonesian Government spokesman said
that the assassination attempt was the logical consequence of the apartheid policy. At a conference in Accra of delegates from African countries during the week-end the Prime Minister of Ghana (Dr. Nkrumah) said that the “wind of change” now blowing through Africa was no ordinary wind, but a “hurricane.” “The issue confronting the world today ... is the African question. The world must answer this question our way—the total liberation of the African,” he said.
