Long Service By Firemen
Station Officers H. V. Hughes and P. J. Taylor were congratulated on their long periods of service by the Christchurch Fire Board last evening. Members expressed their appreciation at a brief function at the conclusion of the board's meeting. Station Officer Hughes retired on April 1 after more than 40 years as a fireman. Station Officer Taylor, who will retire in July, has already completed 37 years’ service.
