FOUNDATION FOR THE BLIND
Trustees Increased To 14 (New Zeaiana Press Association; AUCKLAND, April 12. Representation on the board of trustees of the New Zealand Foundation for the Blind has been widened to bring it into line with the activiites of the foundation. After the annual meeting today, the director (Mr E. W. Christiansen) announced that the number of trustees had been increased from nine to 14. Trustees elected today were:— Mr M McMillan, of Paeroa (Auckland province); Mr L. Louisson, of New Plymouth (rest of the North Island); Mr A. Robertson, of Christchurch (Can-terbury-West Coast); Mr A Newall, of Dunedin (Otago and Southland); Mr G. Riddell (Auckland metropolitan area). The election of one other metropolitan representative and a representative of the parents’ committee has not been completed Appointed members are as follows:—Messrs B M Kibblewhite (sitting chairman), J. S. McAlpine. G Bartley and R Baxter (all representing the Government)
Representative of the Department of Education and the Dominion Association for the Blind have yet to be appointed. The annual report showed a drop of £50.000 in legacies compared with the preceding financial year. There were 120 attending the blind workshop. Workshop sales were the highest on record at £74.000, compared with £72,000 in the preceding year.
