The fifth Russian Antarctic expedition has completed its first tractor-sledge trek from the Mirny observatory to the northern limits of the Sovietskaya plateau, and back, a distance of 2174 miles, according to Moscow Radio. The sled train covered the 1080 miles to the Komsomolskaya station in 43 days. British United Press reported.
