LLANMAI WELL FORWARD
Impressive Trial At Wingatui “The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN, April 12. Llanmai showed that he was well forward for his Easter racing by a smart trial at Wingatui this morning. He easily beat his stablemate, Kelton, and Cashmere. Galloping 35 feet out from the rails pn the course proper, Llanmai (J. R. Dowling) drew out over the concluding stages to run five furlongs in lmin ssec, the last three furlongs in a shade under 40sec. There were three lengths to Kelton (L. W. Hare) and another two lengths to Cashmere (N. A. Dempsey), neither of which was at ease in the going. . All pulled up well. Llanmai will be a short-priced candidate for the Aparima Handicap, the first leg of the Riverton double. He is bracketed in this event with Irrepressible, but the prospects are that the Timanova mare will start in her alternative engagement, the Warstep Stakes, at Riccarton on Monday. Kelton is ready for his bid in the £2OOO Great Easter, the first leg of the Canterbury Jockey Club's double on Monday. He will be attempting to win this event for the third time for his Wingatui owner-trainer, D. P. Wilson. Earlier successes from this successful stable were The Hob and Clinker. No Rider
