FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression north-east of the North Island is moving slowly south. A ridge of high pressure lies to the west and south-east of the South Island. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate southerlies; fair in inland areas; cloudy in coastal areas with patches of drizzle or light rain; cool temperatures. Outlook: similar conditions. West Coast.—Light winds; fair weather; mild temperatures. Outlook: fair. Nelson.—Fresh south-easterlies outside Tasman Bay and light winds elsewhere; cloudy; moderate temperatures. Outlook: some isolated showers. Marlborough.—Fresh south-east winds; dull and cool with periods of drizzle and rain. Outlook: similar conditions. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
