Caught In Scrub Fire
(New Zealand Prese Association) ' BLENHEIM, April 11. Caught in a scrub fire on a property in Pelorus Sound yesterday afternoon, Lochiel Stuart Cameron, aged about 35, of Havelock, a stock buyer foe the
New Zealand Refrigerating Company, suffered extensive burns and is now in the Wairau Hospital, Blenheim, on the seriously ill list
Mr Cameron was expected at the property of Mr K. G. Matthews to draft sheep. Normally he would go to the property by launch from Havelock to Moetapu Bay, but yesterday Mr Cameron went by car as far as he could and walked over a .'all to the property.
At the same time, Mr Matthews wfa on the hill burning a track through fern to enable him to shift sheep. The fire was confined to a small patch but an
unexpected change in the wind caused the fire to swing round and burn furiously. It was not until Mr Matthews heard cries for help that he know anyone was in the vicinity. Mr Cameron, his clothing in flames, ran down the - hill towards Mr' Matthews. -First aid was applied rapidly and the burning clothes taken off Mr Cameron.
