White Heron Seen Near Dunedin
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 18. One of New Zealand’s rarest and best-protected birds, the white heron, has been sighted frequently around Dunedin in the last week. The most recent sighting was at Merton yesterday when the bird attracted a large ■ number of observers. Recently the subject of -a National Film Unit documentary, the white heron has for some years been confined mainly to South Westland where it breeds in swamps and river flats.
