Racing MINGLOW FIT
Sound Trial At Wingatui
"The Press'' special Service DUNEDIN, April 11
Minglow, which missed her Beaumont engagement through a festered corn, showed that she would be fit for her trip to Riccarton when she worked well at Wingatui this morning. Ridden by her Great Easter rider, R. N. Marsh, she dashed over five furlongs on the outside of the course proper in Imin 7 2-ssec. There was not much pace on over the early stages, but when asked for a faster effort she came home the last three furlongs in 40sec to beat her stablemate, Swan Queen, by half a length. Her part-owner-trainer, B Thomson, is of the opinion that he will have the Globe of Light mare near her best for her campaign at Riccarton.
Swan Queen, an attractive two-year-old by Sabean from Swan Lake, is a sister to Wool Man. a good winner in Australia. She was the top priced filly at the 1959 Trentham Yearling Sales. She is due to have her first race in the Champagne Stakes at Riccarton on Monday. She will be ridden by R. J. Skelton. Montrose <B. Blair) and McGregor (J. Wells) completed their work by coming home the last three furlongs in 41 3-ssec. Both horses look in top order for their Easter racing. They are booked for Riverton in preference to Riccarton. ' • The last start winner. Vaper, and Our Heritage, the other two members of J. W. Pankhurst's team, will race at Riccarton.
