Because of the New Zealand Rugby Union’s trials on Saturday and Monday—the final matches will be played on Thursday, April 21—tournament events will be held mainly on the mornings of the two days. The tournament, comprising eight sports as well as the annual meetings of various student organisations, will have an official opening on Saturday morning, although two events—the two-day cricket matches between Auckland and Wellington and Canterbury and Otago—will start at Wellington and Christchurch respectively on Wednesday.
Among the more interesting entries is that of an Idle-along yachting crew from Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North. The sporting events include, besides cricket and yachting, athletics, women's basketball, rowing, rifle shooting, tennis and swimming. New Zealand University teams will be chosen in most of the sports at the end of the tournament.
