Sponsored Serials

Sir,—l sympathise with R. P. Chibnall’s dissatisfaction with radio serials which feature violence. As a remedy, I suggest tuning to the non-commercial stations. Children’s serials of a high quality are now being produced in New Zealand. I wonder if R. P. Chibnall’s children heard “Gold at Kapai,” which was broadcast from 3YA before Christmas? I had young people in the house at the time it was running and they found it adventurous and exciting, without any of the unpleasant features referred to above. It was written by a Christchurch author, Phyl Wardell. I understand it is now running in other New Zealand centres.—Yours, etc., WHOLESOME LISTENING. April 8, 1960.
