MEETS BROTHER AFTER 50 YEARS
N.Z. Captain Revisits Homeland (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 10. Captain P. H. London, aged 76, met his younger brother, Bern, aged 74, for the first time in 50 years at Auckland’s ferry buildings on Friday. Captain London had made a sentimental journey in the 58ft ketch, Tahv Waitangi, from Sydney to see his brother and revisit his homeland. “It’s' nice to be seeing all my relations and New Zealand again before I peg out. This is a sentimental trip. You get like that when you are getting on, you know.” he said. Captain London was born at Pelorus Sound, Marlborough, and sailed in wool clippers in the 1890’s, getting his master’s ticket in London in 1907. He said he had been to Marlborough seeing relations and friends since making a stormy Tasman crossing six weeks ago. Captain London’s home now (he left New Zealand in 1916) is Church Point, a North Shore Sydney area. He is the managing director of a garment factory employing 100 men.
