DR. WINIATA’S FUNERAL
Prince’s Burial At Judea Pa
(New Zealand Press Association) TAURANGA, April 10. Maori people of the Waikato and Bay of Plenty gave the body of Dr. Mahar aia Winiata a prince’s burial at Judea Pa today. He was buried in a corner of the marae in the shadow of the meeting house. Today’s service ended a tangi which began with Dr. Winiata's sudden death on Wednesday. Last respects were paid by about 2000 Maoris and European mourners in an hour-long procession past the graveside. The address was given by the Rev. A. E. Orr, of Auckland, president of the Methodist Church of New Zealand of which the late Dr. Winiata was an ordained minister. Dr. Winiafa, he said, had made a great contribution to New Zealand and had seen his own influence grow and his ideals begin to spread. Associated with Mr Orr in the service were the Rev. Rangi Rogers (Auckland*, the Rev. Rua Rakana (Hokianga*. the Rev. Eru Te Tuhi (Dargaville* and the Rev. Te Uira Tuteau (Waikato*. Pall-bearers from Wellesley College carried the casket in a circuit of the marae to the graveside.
