ACCIDENT AT ADDINGTON

Driving »No evidence of careless driving Was found at an inauiry into the accident involving four fftirses in the Williams Handicap at Addington on Saturday. The accident occurred about dhe furlong and a half after the start. A report from the stipendiary stewards said that Captain Sar. Local Light, Patchwork and Thunder were involved and qjhers were checked. >T’ne report said Captain Star Was eased back into the field as ttie horses raced for positions and bocal Light, which was trailing, dbt a foot through, a wheel of his sulky. 'Evidence was heard from F G. Holmes. A. J. Bourne, and D. C. Watts, but no action was taken *C. C. Devine, the driver of Thunder," was slightly injured and could not drive again during the day. ' After the Papanui Handicap an objection was lodged against second placing being awarded to Pencarne, on the grounds of interference to Staralder. After evidence from Bi Pringle, driver of Pencarne. R. W. Curtain and D. D. Nyhan, it was decided to let the placings stand. Alter the President’s Handicap. W. K. Tatterson, trainer of Gav Baron, was fined £5 for an unauthorised change of gear.
