SUGAR QUOTAS FOR 1960

The International Sugar Council announced last night full details of the revised estimate of the free market net import requirements for 1960 and the export .quotas now in effect. This follows the three-day sixth session of the council which ended in London on Friday. Export quota? in effect on April 1, 1960, compared with those prevailing at the outset of the council’s meeting, are:— Belgium: Nil (46,750 metric tons raw value); Brazil, 518,009 (467.500) China, 771,142 (677.500) Cuba, 2,592,510 (2,197,250); Czechoslovakia, 258,773 (233,750). Denmark, 30,000 (63,750); Dominican Republic, 669,092 (575.450); France, nil. (18,000); Haiti, 6000 (40.500); Hungary, 36.574 (36,000); Indonesia, 50,000 (340,000). Italy. 20,859 (18.000); Mexico, 70.114 (63.750); the Netherlands. nil (36,000); Peru, 486,553 (416.500); Philippines. 44.074 (40,500); Poland, 50,000 (187.000); Portugal, nil (18,000); Russia, nil (170,000).
