STYLISH, OFFICER TO BE SPELLED
Will Miss Randwick Centenary Stakes (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, April 1. Stylish Officer, which was invited from New Zealand for the Randwick Centenary Invitation Stakes, was scratched from the race yesterday. Stylish Officer also will be withdrawn from all his other autumn engagements. Stylish Officer pulled up lame after a gallop with Royal Jester yesterday at Randwick.
Messrs L. and J. Steen paid a high price for Stylish Officer before he was brought to Australia. He has not raced here. His trainer, Ces Ryan, said last night Stylish Officer seemed all right after examination by a veterinary surgeon later yesterday. He thought Stylish Officer might have jarred one of his joints, but believes the trouble is not serious. As a precaution, Stylish Officer will be let down in his training and sent for a spell.
