PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT THE CROWN COLONY OF FIJI Applications are invited for the , Undermentioned Appointments. I POST OF SUPERVISOR - CLASS 'C' (ROADS) Duties and qualifications: Applicants should be thoroughly conversant with the maintenance of gravel roads and should have had practical experience of highway construction involving heavy earthworks, the operation of quarries, handling of explosives and use of earthmoving equipment and mechanical plant in general. They should be familiar with tne methods in practice in bitumqus paving and should have had experience in a supervisory capacity and be able to control labour. Preference will be given to applicants who hold either a Main Highway Board New Zealand Certificate or a Local Government Australian Certificate. POST OF SUPERVISOR - CLASS 'O' (MECHANICAL) Applicants should have a sound knowledge of engineering workshop practice, including land, marine arid diesel maintenance. The successful applicant will be required to take charge x of the fitting and machine shop GENERAL Applicants should have had at least five years’ experience in a responsible position involving the supervision of labour and the keeping of records connected with the system. i The salary scale is £(F) 840 x 40 1000 x 50 1100 x 50 1300, plus a Post Allowance which is £l6O at £840; £lBO at £1000; £l9O at £llOO and £220 at £l3OO, candidates to enter the scale at a point commensurate with their experience and qualifications. £(F) 100 equals £(N.Z.) 89 12s 6d.
