GROCERY PRICE LIST BAN
Trade Commission Decision

A Trade Practices and Prices Commission order outlawing grocers’ price lists and several other grocery trade practices is expected to be gazetted next week. The counsel to the commission, Mr G. S. Orr, is believed to have prepared a draft order after discussions with the secretary of the New Zealand Master Grocers' Federation (Mr R. M. Barker) of Auckland.
Grocers will have 28 days after the gazetting of the order in which to appeal. It may be two months yet before the Price Tribunal, which fixed meat prices last month, also controls the price of fish Departmental officers are now investigating prices and mark-ups There is no appeal against decisions of the tribunal.
