TECHNICAL-SHIRLEY RUGBY CLUB

Request For Ground Deferred A request from the TechnicalShirley Rugby Club for the use of the facilities at Ensors road ground was deferred at the meeting of the Christchurch Technical College Board of managers monthly meeting last night. “The club has had two changes of name recently,” said Mr D. W. Lyall (principal), “from Technical Old Boys to Technical, and now to Technical-Shirley. It does not seem right that an open club should have the use of the school’s facilities.” Mr W. D. Johnstone said the Technical-Shirley club would still cater for pupils from the school. The matter was then referred to the past and senior students’ association for their views on the change of name and constitution.
