£11,853 FOR AGADIR
N.Z. Red Cross Appeal (New Zealana Press Association/ 'WELLINGTON, March 27 Money in hand and in transit for the New Zealand Red Cross Society’s appeal for Agadir earthquake refugees now totalled £11.853 15s 2d. the society’s secre-tary-general (Mr M. S. Galloway) said tonight. Branches throughout the country were reporting money still moving in. With the £5OOO given by the Government, Mr Galloway expected the appeal would reach £20,000 by the time it closed at the end of the month. The best district response had come from Hawke’s Bay. which had just forwarded £9OO. bringing its total so far to £2300. Wellington and the Hutt Valley had given about £l2OO. “We are most gratified with the general response, mainly from small subscribers. It is a credit to New Zealand,” said Mr Galloway.
