Yachting FINN CLASS TRIALS
R. Roberts Wins Nomination 'New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. March 27. By winning four out of the seven selection trials, which were completed at Browns Bay during the week-end R. H. Roberts, of Takapuna, secured nomination as New Zealand's entry in the Finn class yachting event at the Olympic Games. The runner-up was the former member of the Danish Olympic yachting team. H. Pedersen, who won the three races not taken by Roberts. P. G. Mander. the winner of the Sharpie class gold medal at the last Olympics, was third, recording two seconds and four thirds in the series. The final points, with each Skipper counting his best five out of seven performances, were: R. H. Roberts (Auckland, Finnesota). 4429; H. Pedersen (Auckland, Blue Finn). 3651; P. G. Mander (Christchurch, Fintahi). 2694; R. Wilkinson (Whangarei, Redwing). 2447; D. J. Newell (Auckland. Inferno). 1981; L. Brookbank (Auckland, Finale), 1327; B. Stewart (Auckland, T.vrella), 1026.
