CITY BUILDING PERMITS
Higher Values Last Month The number and value of building permits issued by the Christchurch City Council for the month of February, were considerably more than those for February. 1959. Last month, the council issued 306 permits valued at £503,341 compared with £296,547 for 278 permits in February, 1959. Since March 31. last year, the council has issued 3935 permits for work valued at £4,772,448. For the same period in 1958-59 3486 permits for a value of £4,617,970 were issued. In the Linwood ward. 84 permits valued at £103,469 were issued last month. Next highest was St. Albans with 76 permits for work valued at £78,962. For the corresponding period in 1959. the value of work done in Linwood was £29.041 for 46 permits. The St. Albans figures were £44.480 for 49 permits. The Linwood area so far, has the greatest value of work done in the financial year, with a figure of £1.136.357. It is followed by St. Albans, with £873,718. One hundred and forty-one permits have been issued for work valued at £251,517 in the central inner area.
