Evacuations From Greece And Crete
Sir, —We are writing a book —“Greelc Tragedy, ’4l” dealing with the evacuations from Greece and Crete in the spring of 1941. May we ask any of your readers who took part in either of these operations to send us their experiences? Since our story is concerned mainly with the removal of our Imperial Force from the mainland and, later, from Crete, we would welcome the exneriences of officers and men of the 4th, sth, 6th and 10th NewZealand Brigades during the last days and hours on or near the beaches. Also, we are anxious to hear from those who managed to escape either from Greece or Crete after the German occupation, since we know that many of them must have had remarkable and exciting adventures. Any manuscript sent to us c/o our publisher, Anthony Blond, Ltd., 36 Chester row, London, S.W.I. will be acknowledged and duly returned.—Yours, etc., VICE-ADMIRAL T. H. BAILLIE-GROHMAN, C. 8., D. 5.0., 0.8. E., ANTHONY HECKSTALLSMITH, D.S.C. London, February 13, 1960.
