THE PINEAPPLE PLANT (Eucomis punctata).—This socalled pineapple plant is a worthwhile perennial for any garden. It is hardy and very distinctive. The flower stems rise more than two feet from a thick cluster of strap leaves, and will last for weeks when cut. These flowers are composed of many small, open, greenish flowers thickly clustered round the stem, and have a greenish background with prominent purple dots, and are very attractive. There is also a pink-flowered new form of the Eucomis family; but the type illustrated is one which takes some beating.
