HOUSE BURNED DOWN
Early Morning Fire At Islington
A big 75-year-old house at 22 Wilson Street, Islington, was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. The fire was reported at 1.30 a.m. by a neighbour who had heard the cries of the occupants, and had seen smoke. By the time the fire brigade arrived the house was burning fiercely, and the brigade could only try to confine the blaze. The house was occupied by Mr and Mrs F. Ellis and their son, and Mr and Mrs A. Mackie, who were away at the time of the fire. No-one was injured by the blaze, the cause of which is not known. The house, which was insured, was owned by the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd.
