MAGISTRATE’S COURT
[WEDNESDAY] (Before Mr N. M. Izard, S.M.) IDLE AND DISORDERLY
Beverley May Corkin, aged 18, who pleaded guilty to being idle and disorderly after she had twice left her home in Clarence road and kept company with young sailors, was remanded to January 28 for a probation officer’s report and sentence.
Sergeant T. A. A. Marson said the accused was reported missing on January 13 but was found at Lyttelton the next day and returned to her home. She left home again on January 15 and was not found until Tuesday, after having walked the streets of the city and spent the evenings at parties, and on Monday evening at a private hotel. She had only Is 8d in her possession and said she had not worked because she did not like work, Sergeant Marson said. REMANDED On a charge of breaking and entering the shop of the Canterbury Wine and Spirit Company on January 14, Clinton Eves, aged 19, was remanded to January 28. Bail was fixed at £lOO and Eves was ordered to report daily to the police. UNREGISTERED DOGS
In spite of the increased publicity given to the matter, large numbers of dog owners had not yet registered their dogs, said Mr G. R. Lascelles, prosecuting for the Christchurch City Council. This failure to register dogs defeated the purpose of the Hydatids Act, he said. The following were fined for keeping unregistered dogs:— Charles Phillip Wing (two charges), £1 on each charge; Rua N. Stanley, £3: Joseph H- Russell, £2; Neil J. Owens, £2; Mavis M. Newlove, £2; Leonard Maffey, £3.
