Auckland Shield Gates

(Neto Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 20. The Plunket Shield failed to be a money-spinner for Auckland this season. The three home matches at Eden Park brought in £1528. In 1957-58. the last time three matches were played in Auckland, the takings were £1568. Two day’s takings were lost in the game this season, one through rain and another because the match ended early. Last season when only Otago and Canterbury played here the takings were £1452, which suggested that South Island teams are most popular.

The takings for individual matches this season are: Northern Districts £397, Wellington £716, and Central Districts £425.
