N.Z.Z COLIS AT LISMORE

Game Ends In Draw

(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) LISMORE, January 19. The third match of the tour between New Zealand Colts and Far North Coast Colts ended today in a draw, with New Zealand gaining a lead on the first innings in the last over of the day. When play was resumed this morning the home side carried their overnight total of 192 for seven wickets to 294 for the loss of nine wickets.

When the innings was declared closed Wilson, a hard-hitting batsman, was top scorer with 91. The New Zealand bowling and fielding were unimpressive in the heat. New Zealand commenced their innings disastrously, the opening batsmen being dismissed with the total of 16.

Shortly after, McGregor retired hurt when he was hit on the jaw with a bumper. He was taken to hospital but an X-ray has revealed no fracture. Hastings and Mason then became associated in a partnership of 105 and, with McGregor not available to bat, it appeared that New Zealand would be struggling to avoid a follow on.

However, two valuable partnerships—by Beban and England 54 for the sixth wicket and Beban and Parson 70 for the seventh wicket—in an hour changed the complexion of the game. New Zealand In the last over of the day—thanks to Beban who hit two boundaries—passed the home side's total.

It was an exciting end to the day’s play and Beban well merited the applause he received from the crowd on his return to the pavilion. Tomorrow the New Zealand team will travel 150 miles to Brisbane to begin a two-day match against Queensland Colts on January 21. Beban at present has a batting average ot' 142. having been dismissed only once. Scores:— FAR NORTH COAST COLTS
