Water Polo N.Z. TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA
Two Canterbury Men Included

Nine players and an emergency have been named by the New Zealand Water Polo Board to travel to Australia on February 18 for an Olympic elimination match. The players are: A. G. Jackson. R. H. Henry (Canterbury), D. B. Ellis, R. N. Harker, J. W. Court (Auckland). A. A. Keenan, R. AHatchwelj (Wellington), A. K. Griffiths, A J. Chamberlain (Waikato). C. Clare (Waikato) Is the emergenev Mr J G Hopcroft, a member of the board, will manage the team and Mr A. J. Chamberlain, a former English International, will coach them. Mr Hopcroft has had a long experience of swimming and water polo play and administration in Taranaki and Waikato, and is also a referee The team will play a series of club and State matches in Australia which will culminate in the elimination match with Australia on February 24 If the New Zealand team wins It immediately becomes eligible for selection for the 1960 Olympics to be held in Rome. The final decision will rest with the New Zealand Olympic and Empire Games Association. The team has yet to be approved by the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Council which meets in Chrlstchurcn on January 26. Arrangements for the Australian matches have been made by Mr Berge Phillips of Sydney, a member of the Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur. The team has already played together and at Wellington on Saturday last it beat a Wellington team 14-3. It will assemble for a training session at Auckland from January 29 to February 1, and will have another training session meeting on February 13.
