NEW YORK, January 20.

The Prime Minister of kamerun (Mr Ahmadon Ahidjo) had confirmed that he was seeking French reinforcements to suppress the rebellion in his country, on his own responsibility, the “New York Times” reported today.

The newspaper said in a dispatch from a correspondent in Yaounde, that Mr Ahidjo had sent a representative to Paris to ask for the necessary reinforcements “up to two full-strength battalions.”

The correspondent quoted Mr Ahid.j as saying in an interview: “I may need more.” M r Ahidjo added, according to the correspondent, that rebel terrorism was growing in the country. particularly in the Bamileke and Mungo districts.

He also told the correspondent that he would protest to Guinea against its harbouring of Dr. Felix-Roland Moumie, the leader of the Union of the People of Kamerun, who is in exile, and against its shipments of arms to the rebels.
