Seven New Cars For 5s

(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, January 18. Mr Douglas Barnes, aged 41, a cycling enthusiast who cannot drive a car, has suddenly found himself the owner of seven motor cars.

He won them all for 5s in a fantastic coup in a series of contests run by the “Daily Mail.’’ In each competition the entrants had to list in the order of preference the characteristics they would like to find in a car if they had one. Mr Barnes entered for every contest and won seven of them. His fleet now comprises a Jaguar worth £l7OO, a Sunbeam Rapier (£986), an Austin Healey Sprite (£632), a Ford Prefect (£610), an Austin Seven Minicar (£537), and a Morris Minicar (£537).

Mr Barnes is now making up his mind which car to keep.
