New Brighton Bank Manager

Mr R. W. Lattimore, promoted to the managership of the Rotorua branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia, Ltd., was bidden farewell yesterday at New Brighton—first by the bank’s customers, then by the New Brighton District Business Association, associated with the New Brighton Working Men’s Club. Mr C. V. Lester, at the earlier function, spoke of Mr Lattimore’s service, not to the bank’s customers only, but also of his assist-

ance generally in the district affairs of New Brighton. He had worked in with the sports clubs of the district, and also with the establishment of the New Brighton District Highland Pipe Band. He was, too, a trustee of the North Beach Hall, for the use of the North New Brighton Community centre. On behalf of the bank’s customers in New Brighton he made a suitable presentation. At the second function, the president of the New Brighton District Business Association, Mr C. C. McEwin called on Mr J. C. Walsh, president of the New Brighton Working Men’s Club, to make the first speech. Mr Walsh recalled the early days of the New Brighton Working Men s Club, and the firm foundation laid by the club’s pioneers. He included, in his tribute, a mention of the sound advice given to the club by Mr Lattimore Mr McEwin spoke of Mr Lattimore’s service to New Brighton, not only as a bank manager but also in his general interest in, and support of, whatever should be proceeded with in the interests of the district. . . In reply, Mr Lattimore praised all those with whom he had had business dealings as a bank manager in New Brighton. He had found them, without even one; exception, customers of the highest business integrity. No more could be said. His main regret was, that in going to Rotorua ? b t e Yhe leaving many friends.
