WAIRARAPA RAM SALE
Record Price Of 2900gns Paid (New Zealana Press Association) MASTERTON., January 13. A Wairarapa record for a Romney ram was established today at the Wairarapa Stud Sheep Breeders’ forty-second annual ram sale at Solway. The price, 2900gns, was obtained for a one-shear Romney offered on account of Arthur B. Southey. The ram was purchased by E. B. Booth and W. Goodwin, of Gladstone. The second ram offered by Mr Southey brought IBOOgns. It was bought by Mr Goodwin. Six lots of Romneys sold this afternoon on account of Mr Southey, averaged 1266 gns, a figure which had not previously been reached at a Wairarapa sale. Another Romney ram sold on account of A. O. Wyeth, of Masterton. realised 1800gns, the purchaser being E. N. Gunson and Sons. Seventy-six of the 113 Romney lots offered were sold. Prices for Southdown rams ranged up to 775 guineas, the latter price being paid for an animal sold on account of M. Perry, of Masterton.
