BRIDGE TRAFFIC NOT DELAYED

Big Truck Breaks

Down

(New Zealand Press Association; AUCKLAND, January 12. Peak-hour traffic over the Auckland harbour bridge this morning moved freely past the biggest vehicle to break down on the bridge—an eight-wheeled articulated truck hauling a trailer with an all-up laden weight of 18 tons. A front tyre on the truck had collapsed. The spare wheel was at Warkworth so a replacement was sought in Auckland, but the wrong one arrived. The vehicle was then jacked up and the wheel and its tyre removed and sent into the city where it was repaired. The vehicle was immobilised for nearly two hours. It was the first major breakdown on the bridge.
