DAVIS CUP TEAM
Entry Now Definite
“The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, January 12.
New Zealand will definitely enter a team in the European zone of the 1960 Davis Cup lawn tennis competition. This was announced by Mr F. S. Ramson, chairman of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association’s management committee. The two players who have been chosen for the team, L. A. Gerrard and M. A. Otway, will depart from New Zealand in February to play in overseas tournaments before the first cup round. Their first tournament will probably be at Manila. Within the next two weeks, the New Zealand selectors, Messrs G. C. Reid, M. C. Healey, and A, S. Bums, will advise the management committee eof any other players up to the required standard. The qom-
mittee will then decide what other players, if any, are to join the team.
Likely candidates for the remaining places in the team are B. E. Woolf, K. H. Long, G. G. Judge. J. H. Lockington, R. Hawkes, J. B. Souter, ana R. G. Clarke. On present form Lockington and Clarke could be considered the top prospects.
